Pomorie is the nearest real seaside town to Arena Burgas: 14 km in a straight line, 17.8 km by road, about 21 minutes by car. It sits on the same side of Burgas as the arena and the airport. That makes it the cheapest coastal base for taxis after a show, and the easiest one to combine with the shows on 11, 13 and 15 May 2027.
Why stay in Pomorie
- It is close. A taxi from the arena takes 21–30 minutes. From Nesebar or Sozopol it takes 35–50 minutes.
- It is a town, not a resort. About 14,000 people live in Pomorie all year, so restaurants and shops are open in May, before the summer season begins.
- The salt lake. Pomorie is on a narrow spit between the sea and a salt lake. Salt has been produced here since antiquity. There is a Salt Museum, and the lake's black mud is used in the town's mud baths and spas. The Pomorie Monastery, a Thracian beehive tomb and well-known wineries are also within a few kilometres.
- The airport is on the way. Pomorie to Burgas Airport is about 15 minutes by car. A pre-booked transfer costs around €30 for up to three people.
By bus
There is no Burgas city bus line to Pomorie. Intercity buses leave from South Bus Station (Avtogara Yug), sector 4. On weekdays, Burgasbus and Konkord-7 together run roughly every 30–60 minutes.
| Weekdays | Weekends | |
|---|---|---|
| Last dedicated Pomorie bus from Burgas | 20:30 (Konkord-7) | 20:30 |
| Last Burgasbus departure | 19:30 | |
| First bus from Pomorie to Burgas | 06:30 | 06:30 |
| Journey time | about 35 min | |
| Fare | from about €2.30 (check before travel) |
The coastal buses to Nesebar and Sunny Beach (sector 3) also run along the Pomorie road; their last departure from Burgas is 22:05 (DS Bus). Ask the driver whether the bus stops in Pomorie itself or only at the turn-off before you rely on it.
Timetables at Avtogara Yug carry no season label and may change in May. Check the board when you arrive.
From South Bus Station to the arena, take line 15, 12, Б1 or Б2 to Stefan Stambolov Boulevard: about 15–20 minutes, €0.80 on board. From Pomorie by public transport, allow about 1 hour 10 minutes door to door.
There is a shortcut. Pomorie buses use the same road as line 15 through Sarafovo and past the airport. If you can confirm a stop on that road with the driver, you can change to line 15 there and go straight up Transportna Street to Stefan Stambolov without going via the city centre. Until the 2027 timetables are published, treat this as something to ask about, not something to count on.
Getting back after a show
If the usual slot is kept, shows start at 22:00 local time, after the last Pomorie bus has left; semi-finals end around 00:00 and the Grand Final around 02:00. After the Grand Final there is no public transport to Pomorie: only a taxi or a pre-booked transfer. The same is true after every evening show.
- On the meter: at the Burgas night cap of €1.02/km, 17.8 km comes to roughly €18–22, about 21–30 minutes.
- Split four ways: about €5 each, the cheapest show-night return of any coastal base.
Do not try to take a taxi from the doors. Walk 10–15 minutes away from the arena along Stefan Stambolov before you order. The taxi should head north-east towards Sarafovo, not into the city centre.
Pomorie, Aheloy or Sarafovo?
- Sarafovo (13–18 minutes by taxi) is inside Burgas and on city bus 15, which runs directly to the arena until about 23:00. It is the better choice if you are mainly coming for the shows.
- Pomorie (21–30 minutes) has more beds and more to do, and still a short taxi ride.
- Aheloy (21 km in a straight line) is further along the same road. It is smaller and quieter, with only a few minutes' difference.
