Eurovision 2027: Burgas Airport to Arena Burgas

Burgas Airport (BOJ) is unusually close to its Eurovision venue: 6.8 km in a straight line, 9.6 km by road, about 13 minutes by car to Arena Burgas in ordinary traffic. One city bus connects the two directly. This page covers the trip in both directions, including the awkward one: getting from the Grand Final on Saturday 15 May 2027 to a flight on Sunday 16 May.

All fares are in euro; Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026.

By bus: line 15

Line 15, run by the municipal operator Burgasbus, is the airport bus — and its route passes the arena. It runs Sarafovo – Burgas Airport (Terminal 2) – Transportna Street – Stefan Stambolov Boulevard – Demokratsia Boulevard – Bulair Street – South Bus Station (Avtogara Yug). Stefan Stambolov is the arena's boulevard, so you stay on from the terminal and get off on Stambolov; there is no change.

Monday–Saturday Sunday and holidays
First from Sarafovo / airport 05:00 05:30
First from South Bus Station 05:10 05:55
Last from South Bus Station 23:00 23:00
Last from Sarafovo 23:15 23:15
Frequency every 15–20 min by day, every 30 min after 20:00

The last bus from the airport stop is around 23:17, according to third-party timetables (Burgasbus itself does not list it) — check before travel. Burgasbus does not publish running times either. The airport to the arena is roughly a third of the route, so allow about 15 minutes; South Bus Station is around 25–30 minutes from the airport.

One trap: some evening runs are signed 15A. Between 17:00 and 19:00 (Monday–Saturday), 15A buses heading out from South Bus Station do not enter the airport and stop at the roundabout instead. Coming from Sarafovo, they do go in. If you are travelling to a flight in that window, check the sign on the front of the bus.

Fares: €0.80 for a single ticket bought on board, or €0.66 with the e-wallet (45 minutes of transfers included). Bank cards are accepted at the validators.

By taxi

Burgas caps taxi fares at €0.92 per km by day and €1.02 per km at night (the municipal maximum since May 2026; most cars now charge it). At those rates the 9.6 km from the airport to the arena comes to roughly €10–13 on the meter, starting charge included. The airport to the railway station is about €13.

Fixed-price transfer companies quote around €25 for up to three people and €33 for up to five to central Burgas. That only makes sense if you want a guaranteed car at a fixed time.

The usual rule applies at the airport as anywhere: use the official rank or a car you ordered, and check that the meter is running before you set off.

Arriving on a show day

The airport–arena trip is short enough to fly in on the day of a show, but do not plan on going straight from the plane to the doors. Drop your luggage first: arenas do not hold suitcases, and you should expect bag-size limits when the venue rules are published. If you are staying in Sarafovo, Izgrev, Slaveykov or on Transportna, line 15 is one bus for both legs.

The municipality has said there will be extra airport services and more city buses during contest week. No timetable has been published; when it is, it will go on our updates page.

After the Grand Final: getting to a Sunday flight

This is the leg to plan before you book anything. If the usual slot is kept, the broadcast starts at 21:00 Central European time — 22:00 in Bulgaria — so the semi-finals end around 00:00 and the Grand Final around 02:00.

After the Grand Final there is no public transport to the airport: only a taxi or a pre-booked transfer. Line 15 stopped hours earlier. The night line Н runs hourly from Slaveykov terminal (00:00–04:00, €1.00) but goes to Meden Rudnik, not the airport. And taxis near the arena will be overwhelmed.

Sunday 16 May 2027 is also a Sunday timetable: the first line 15 bus leaves Sarafovo at 05:30 and South Bus Station at 05:55.

Your realistic options:

  1. Stay in Sarafovo for the last night. It is next to the airport, on line 15, and a taxi from the arena is 13–18 minutes. Then walk or take a short taxi ride to the terminal in the morning.
  2. Pre-book a transfer from the arena area for a fixed time, then walk 10–15 minutes away from the venue to meet it rather than trying to collect it outside the doors.
  3. Choose a later flight. A Sunday afternoon departure removes the problem entirely and costs you one extra night — which is also the night the city is most fun.
